Since getting back in the water we have made good progress. We had a couple of nights in Portimao then Faro for one night then onto Guadinia for one night. These are all places we went last year so we didn't hang about. From there we have come to Cadiz.
Cadiz is the oldest city in Europe and is a fascinating city to explore. Full on windy cobbled streets and old historic buildings. It has been a bit grey and rainy since we arrived so no photos yet but we will take some when the sun comes out. We will probably stay here a week or so exploring the area and making a day trip up to Seville. From here the next major stop will be Gibraltar so looking forward to that. We left the boatyard as planned and started out of the massive journey 9 miles down the coast to the next anchorage at Portimao. Weather permitting we will head on to Faro tomorrow, about 30 miles.
We have been working hard to get our boat jobs done and we are ready to go back in the water tomorrow morning. Aztec Gold is looking good and has awakened from her period of hibernation ready to go. The storage yard we are parked in has undergone major rebuilding while we have been away. The admin building we were parked next to has gone and they have built a huge new complex. Interestingly it is clad in cork panels. Nice and light and good insulation no doubt. You can imagine the conversation at the cork factory "what are we going to do with all this cork now that those bloody screwtops have taken over" blank looks and then the young guy down the back of the room "well I do have one crazy idea but it probably wont fly......" After 41 hours traveling time we have arrived back on Aztec Gold. The trip went well - all flights went to their intended destinations and no pilots got depressed. AG is in good shape, no damp or mold inside and no rats. We are busy doing jobs and think we will be ready to go back in the water on Monday. Sunny and warm here.
We are sitting at Wellington airport about to begin the trip back to the boat. about 40 hours to go. It's windy and cold here so looking forward to getting back to the sun. Goodbye Wellington friends and family, see you in 5 months.
Only a week or so to go until we fly off to Portugal to reunite with Aztec Gold. We have had a great time back in Wellington. The summer here has been excellent, the best I can remember for quite a few years. But daylight saving time finished this weekend so that's our signal to fly north for the winter.
