After a couple of lazy days in Athens we hoped on the plane for the short flight back to New Zealand.
We are now home safe and sound on the sunny Kapiti Coast.

As forecast today was very wet with rain almost all day. So after our big day out yesterday (see previous blog) today was a more subdued affair. Tomorrow is back to work as normal though the forecast is wet for the next few days.
The forecast for Amanda's birthday (the 6th) was looking bad so we decieded to have a day out on the 5th. We hired a car and set off to explore. On the way back we also went to Lidl and visited the bus station to pick up our tickets to Athens but these events were not photographed
We are now out of the water and tucked up safely in the boat yard for the winter. This year, instead of heading straight home we are spending a couple of weeks working on a long list of boat jobs. We are giving AG a bit of love and attention, repaying her for 3 years of faithful service. One of our jobs is to replace all the skin fittings and sea cocks and here is why. This is the engine water seacock showing significant dezincification. As the name suggests over time the zinc leaches out of the bronze alloy and the colour goes from bronze to a nice pink colour. The metal also becomes very soft and brittle and then it breaks and your boat sinks. |
