For our last morning before we headed to the airport we went to the fresh produce markets, mostly as it is the most livley place early in the day.

We are having two nights in Athens before we fly home. Athens is big, noisy and busy, quite a change from the little bays and harbours we have been frequenting on the boat. Today we did a hop on - hop off bus tour to see all the main sights. Last big night out on the town tonight and then off to the airport in the morning. On purpose I hasten to add. We are now in the storage yard spending a few days getting AG bedded down for winter.
The storage yard is huge with many hundreds of boats all lined up. AG has ended the season in good shape, ready for more adventures next year. Buying Amanda a birthday present is very difficult, what do you buy for the woman who already has me? Answer, a five month cruise in the Mediterranean so she can be with me 24/7, perfect.
We celebrated the big day at a little bay on the mainland coast. It had a simple beach-side taverna where we had a long lazy lunch. Then it was back to the boat in the evening for wine and cake. In our last few days we have managed to have a few anchorages to ourselves, a rare achievement in these parts. We managed this by going to places not in the cruising book but instead relying on Amanda's expert navigation skills.
Our final weeks wanderings have bought us back to Corfu which we have decided is our favourite Ionian island. Good anchorages, lots to see and not quite as many other yachts. Now however making our way back slowly to the boat storage place, a few days away.
We only have about a week of sailing left. We go into the storage place on the 8th. We are visiting a few favourite spots and some new places. |
