Since arriving in Greece our pace has changed a lot. We are taking our time exploring our way south through the Ionian. Lots of lovely anchorages to choose from and calm seas. We have moved into the marina near Corfu town to do some chores and see the town. Corfu was ruled by the Venicians way back so the architecture is quite Italian. Despite Greeces current financial difficulties it is business as usual around here. Any protesting you might see on the telly will be in Athens, the islands just tend to carry on.
After a long and uneventful passage we are now in Corfu. Only just arrived but there appears to be no crisis here. Anchored off a nice beach with the usual tourist activity and no sign of problems. More to report once we have had a good sleep and done some exploring.
it's about 10pm and we are sailing overnight up the east coast of Italy. We are heading for a place called Crotone and should arrive about 7am. We do 2 hour watches overnight. We are going to Crotone to fill with fuel and then do another overnighter to Corfu. We want to arrive in Greece with plenty of fuel in the tank in case it is getting hard to come by there.
We will see how it goes in Greece with the option to move on if its not good. We have been anchored in this very picturesque bay for two nights and tomorrow morning we will move on up the Ionian (east) coast of Italy.
This is the narrow passage between Sicily and mainland Italy. We are currently sailing through it. From here we turn left, hop up the coast of Italy a bit then it's accross to Corfu. These islands are off the north east corner of Sicily and are pretty spectacular. They are volcanic islands with a number still quite active. It has been very calm with nice anchorages so we have enjoyed our stay.
